Fig Fleurs has such a comfortable atmosphere that as soon as you walk in, you can just smell the fresh flowers and feel at home. This local business, located in Quebec’s West Island, is owned by Orysia and Marie who are both extremely knowledgeable in the field.
They were both kind enough to invite me to their Summer Design Workshop. These workshops are designed as a way to have fun, meet new people and learn something new. We were all given our own workspace, different flowers in a vase, 3 mason jars and scissors. As the owners were teaching us how to arrange out flowers in the mason jars, they also taught us the names of the various flowers. A few useful tips I learned; never let the leaves from the flower stem touch the water, slit the stems so the flowers can get more water and always cut the stem above a flower node. I was extremely happy that we were able to bring our mason jars home.
One of the reasons why I love local businesses is because of how the owners treat their clients. Both Orysia and Marie were approachable and extremely professional. Not only did they provide us with refreshments, but as we were leaving they also gave us a few gift certificates for other local businesses in the community. As a pageant woman, there’s nothing I love more than when people try to help out other people!
Fig Fleurs hold many workshops every month so please consult their website for more information. Their shop has gorgeous flowers for every occasion, I definitely recommend it!
