Hi guys!

So it seems like we are coming closer and closer to the Miss World Canada 2017 pageant and today has been a really busy day in order to make sure that I’m as ready as possible.

I got eyelash extensions yesterday which look absolutely stunning I love it. I had always wanted to try it so Miss World Canada was the best opportunity to get them done. The result is amazing and I’m currently considering refilling them every few weeks so that I can keep them ! I also got my nails done today and they are very beautiful as well. They are a nice light shade of pink which looks very feminine and polished. With all of these appointments it’s really starting to feel like I’ll soon be off to Toronto to meet everyone and to give it my all! The pageant is in less than a week after all so I can feel a little bit of stress building up.

As for my Beauty with a Purpose project I’m so happy about how it turned out. I just received a letter of recommendation from the Mayor of my city today and it is a very lovely letter that will truly add to my project. Having the support of the city is beyond exciting and I would be thrilled to have the possibility to help as many people as I can through my project. I have also contacted the federal deputy of my county  in order to share my project with her and she has also given me her support and a letter of recommendation which I’m very grateful for. I could not be more honoured to be supported by such important and impactful people that genuinely care about the well being of their community. They have always been great examples of kindness and generosity and their involvement in the community and their volunteering work is inspiring.

I’m happy to announce that I have my very first sponsor, BMW West Island ! They have been very generous and kind and I’m honoured to have them as sponsors. They are greatly contributing to my fundraising for the Children’s Wish foundation and also to cover for some of my expenses for the pageant.

I have also learned that my parents will be coming to the final show with my aunt and my grandmother which is really sweet I love having their support. They have always encouraged by brother and I in all of our endeavours and I would not be the same without them.

Things are really shaping up this week and I still don’t fully realize that it’s in less than a week. I’m very thankful for my sponsor and for all the support that I have been given I feel extremely lucky and I can’t wait to head to Toronto on the 16th!

All the best,

Catherine

Hi guys!

It has been way too long since I last made a post here on my blog and a lot has been happening so here I am to update you guys. In the last few weeks I have actively been looking for sponsorships and it was way harder than I thought it would be. I never realized how solicited companies and businesses constantly were by people wanting monetary support from them in for charities or activities in exchange for visibility. Understandably, these businesses carefully select which organisms and individuals they support because they have a limited budget intended for that even if they would like to support more organisms and people. Needless to say I am still looking for sponsorships and I doubt that I will have many, however I will be extremely grateful for the sponsors I will have. However, this chase for sponsors has taught me so much because I had initial expectations, then I fell on my face, and then I re-evaluated understood things I didn’t understand before. This experience is pushing me out of my comfort zone, it is opening my eyes to so many things and it is making me work harder and improve my social skills and confidence.

I have also been working really hard on my Beauty with a Purpose project. There has been a lot of progress and I now have a clear and detailed outline of my project so I can finally give you guys and insight on what it will officially be about. I have partnered with my friend Annie Rose, who has studied in special education (for kids with learning disabilities) and who is very involved in helping our local community and volunteering, and we decided to distribute baskets to families in need. Our baskets will not be the traditional baskets that are given to those families on Christmas. We will have three different types of baskets to ensure that the items we provide will be better suited to the families. The first basket is for families with children with ages 0 to 5 and it will include diapers and other expensive and necessary baby items, toys, house products, food, hygiene products, period pads and more. Our second basket is for families with children with ages 6 to 12 and it will include school supplies, toys, house products, food, hygiene products, period pads and more. Our third basket is for families with children with age 13 to 18 and it will include school supplies, toys, house products, food, hygiene products, period pads and more. We are planning that our baskets will cost around 200-300$ so we will be able to help around 30 to 50 families which may not seem like a lot but it will make a huge difference for them. We are partnering with our communities’ Help Center to distribute our baskets.

I have also met with the mayor of my city this week on Wednesday, and she was thrilled with our project. She felt that it was the most important issue in our city and that we were doing an amazing job with stating the issue and finding an effective solution for it. She was so interested in our project and what we had to say and she was very lovely. She will be a big help in our project as well since she made sure that the our city would write an official recommendation letter for our project and add statistics and facts that they have access to in order to add meaning and a sense of urgency and of realness to the important issue of poverty that may go unnoticed in middle class neighbourhoods such as ours. Overall, it was a very eventful week and I am glad to have updated you all on everything that happened and I am also glad to see that things are moving and looking great and promising!

Only 2 weeks left until Miss World Canada in Toronto and meeting all the girls and hopefully meeting all of you and I still can’t realize that it’s actually happening! It will be a very hectic 2 weeks so you can expect more posts to come because there will be so much to say and to update you guys on! Thank you all so much for reading and supporting and I hope you enjoy this post, it was long overdue.

All the best,

Catherine

Hi guys! My name is Catherine and I am Miss Southwest Quebec World 2017!! I’m headed towards the competition Miss World Canada 2017 and this is all super surreal and exciting. I have always looked at these pageants with admiration and awe and secretly wished I could be up there one day and feel just as beautiful as these girls looked. Here I am now and it’s all happening! I just know that this experience will be life changing and eyeopening. It’s certainly pushing me out of my comfort zone so I’ll definitely find out new aspects of myself, things I didn’t think I could do, and I’m definitely going to learn a lot leading up to the contest and during the contest.

I have travelled a lot in the past years and I looooove to visit new places and learn about new cultures. I was very lucky to live in Dubai during my 8th and 9th grade and this probably was the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me. I met wonderful people and learned so much about the world and how Canada was viewed worldwide. You never really think of what people think of your country until you leave it. As it turns out, Canada is very well viewed country that people would love to live in. I never felt as lucky to be Canadian until I realized how great of a country it was. So one thing I have to thank this experience for would definitely be how much I came to appreciate Canada, because it’s easy to take where you come from for granted, and I would be beyond honoured to represent Canada if I ever become Miss World Canada.

In the desert with my little brother, with my Montreal neighbour and with camels !

I really want to use my first post to establish what I’ll be focusing on as Miss Southwest Quebec World 2017. Making a difference in my community or in the world has always been something I wanted to do, and now thanks to my title it’s even easier to help, and it certainly is what I intend to do. I believe that there is always room for improvement wether it is improving ourselves or improving our system of education. There are many children that have learning disabilities and they unfortunately do not get all the attention and help they would need. I really want to dive in their world and see what I can do to improve their situation, because every child deserves to have proper education and to have a promising future. I also think that children often suffer from an important lack of self esteem, so I would really like to find a way to teach children to love themselves and to know their worth from a young age, because confidence is a key aspect of everyone’s development and no child should ever feel like they are worthless.

I’ll be looking for sponsors during the next weeks to help me on the way towards Miss World Canada 2017 and to raise money for the charity Children’s Wish. Your support is extremely appreciated and I look forward to posting more blogs and interacting more with you guys!
